GARRISON, Joseph Edmond, III, 71, passed away on January 1, 2016 at his home in Montgomery, AL. He was born on August 27 in Corinth, MS to Norman Asa and Alva Brandt Garrison.
Joe grew up in Corinth, MS. He graduated from Corinth High School in 1962. After high school he attended college at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. He worked in the automotive industry for 25 years and then migrated to insurance and securities for 12 years. Joe married Mary Frances Payne (Fru) in 1969 in Greenville, MS. They lived in Jackson, MS and Memphis, TN before moving to Montgomery. They were happily married for 46 years. Joe was a member of Frazer United Methodist Church. He loved to cook, spend time outside, hang out with his family and dogs, and talk about Ole Miss.
Joe is survived by his spouse Mary Payne (Fru) of Montgomery, AL; two daughters, Tancie Chenault Garrison of Montgomery, AL and Elizabeth Brandt Garrison LaPish (married to Benjamin Hampton LaPish) of Tuscaloosa, AL; two brothers, Norman Asa Garrison Junior of Montgomery, AL and Michael Henderson Jordan of Richland, WA; three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Alabama Heritage Chapel 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117 at 11:00 a.m. on January 5, 2016. Family and friends are welcome to visit the family following the service at their home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Christian Science Reading Room (1617 Perry Hill Rd, Montgomery, AL) or the Montgomery Humane Society (1150 John Overton Dr, Montgomery, AL).
